Where to travel after graduation

Graduation season is in full effect and so should your travel plans. My biggest regret after finishing college was turning down an opportunity to travel to Bahia, Brazil and study Portuguese and Afro-Brazilian culture. I know I know, that decision still hunts me til this day. I’ve learned that jobs and career will always be there so my advice to you is to simply “shoot your shot” and book your dream trip. With that, here are a few countries with my highest recommendation:

South Africa

When I close my eyes and dream of my favorite place in the world, Capetown is the first place that comes to mind. It’s such a beautiful metropolitan city with vibrant night life, gourmet cuisine, stylist hipsters, and stunning vistas. I promise, you won’t want to leave.

Colombia

Colombia is a country you will fall in love with and revisit. I can’t count on one hand the number of people I know who have returned to Colombia 2-3 times and for good reason. From Bogota’s dope street art to Cartagena’s remarkable colonial architecture and cobble stone streets, there is never a dull moment.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica is the perfect destination for an adventure seeking traveler. If you are looking to emerge yourself in every possible rainforest or simply chill on the beach, Costa Rica is for the win. Costa Rica hands down has the best zip lining in the world. Beautiful beaches, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, volcano mud bathes, and more.

Thailand

Thailand is the land of smiles for a reason. Traveling to Thailand is a great way to indulge in a different culture, eat a deep-fried silk worm or scorpion, and explore temples, lots of temples. You’ll be amazed by the bounty of buddhas.

I wish I would have treated myself after my graduation, but at the time, money was an issue due to a lack of financial maturity. Thank God for progress! LOL! Nevertheless, I am really shooting for a visit to Africa next year for my birthday, Cape Town or Johannesburg. I want to bring in 30 in a major, cultural, unforgettable way.
